Apple continues to develop, produce and release more advanced products, and with the predicted release of the new MacBook Pro in June this year and the new iPad Mini to be launched at some point in the second half of the year, they show no signs of stopping. Following the fuss that surrounded the release of the iPhone 5 (including technical errors with iPhone Maps, that have now been fixed), the release of these two new products is likely to be released with almost as much anticipation and pressure. So what will the new MacBook Pro and iPad Mini offer consumers that previous iterations do not?

Retina or regular?

Apple have always kept quiet about their new releases, allowing the rumor mill to do much of their marketing for them and leaving sites such as Mac Rumors to generate interest and excitement on their behalf. Even cellphone stores are kept in the dark about the arrival date of the latest iPhones, leaving store clerks to repeat themselves thousands of times a day when asked when it will arrive. One analyst, Ming Chu Kuo, has predicted that the new Macbook Pro will appear at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. Ming Chu Kuo, an analyst at KGI securities, has been known to accurately predict releases in the past for Apple products. In recent years, there has been much speculation surrounding the possibility of a retina display for all MacBooks, including both Airs and Pros. According to Ming Chu Kuo, the new Pro and Air will be based on the latest Haswell processors from Intel, which should boost performance of the machines while prolonging battery life. This should please many customers who frequently use their MacBooks for long periods of time and don’t want to have to worry about constantly charging it.

The Retina display is Apple’s LCD screen that has been developed to have a pixel density so high that people do not see the pixels if they are sitting at a regular distance away from the screen. The Retina display was trademarked in 2012 and has been a feature on the iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5, the third iPad and the MacBook Pro, as well as the fourth and fifth generation iPod Touches. But will it be used for the new MacBook Pro? According to Mac Rumors, Kuo is fairly confident now that while the Retina line will be continued, Apple will also be continuing the production of the MacBook Pro without a Retina display, as the lower price attracts some customers.

Is it a phone? Is it a tablet? No, it’s an iPad Mini

The iPad Mini first made its way onto the market in November 2012, but few people had the guts to joke about the fact that it was somewhere between an iPhone and an iPad. Back when the first generation iPad was released in April 2010, some competitors criticized it, confidently assuming that no one would ever buy something that was too big to be convenient and had processing power that was too poor to warrant the size. How those critics are blushing now, after every major consumer electronics company has released their own tablet. Needless to say, they kept fairly quiet about the iPad Mini. The benefit of the iPad Mini is that it has taken the processing power of the iPad and packed it into a smaller package, while ensuring that the screen is large enough for watching movies, for example. This year, the iPad Mini is set to hit the market with a new Retina display, making the viewing experience even more enjoyable than before. Mass production of the Retina display is set to begin in the summer for the new iPad Mini, which will provide it with the same resolution as the full-size Retina iPad. This will ensure that apps will work across iPads and iPad Minis, so allowing for a larger market for iPad apps.

While no prices have been released for the new products, comparing the price of the iPad with that of the Retina iPad can give a good idea of how much extra value the Retina display would add to the iPad Mini. The latest generation 16GB non-Retina iPad is currently priced on the Apple Store at $529 with cellular capabilities, or $399 without, while the 16GB Retina display iPads are priced at $629 with cellular or $499 without. It is fairly likely, therefore, that the Retina display for the iPad Mini could come with an extra $100 on the price tag. This may well be acceptable for the improved user experience, but it would bring the price up to $559 for cellular capabilities or $429 just with Wi-Fi, making it absolutely worthwhile to invest in gadget insurance. When choosing either iPhone insurance or gadget insurance, it is generally advised that consumers weigh up the cost of the insurance with the cost of replacing the phone or gadget should it get lost, stolen or broken. With the estimated price of the new MacBook Pro and the iPad Mini with Retina display, insurance is likely to be the best value option. With any luck, all will be revealed at this year’s WWDC from June 10 to June 14.

Check out this great round up of crazy neck pillows for flying from infinitelegroom.com

There are few things less comfortable than sleeping in coach class on the airplane, but that is why the neck pillow was invented. They may seem dorky at first, but with so many varieties in color, pattern and features (we’re talking aromatherapy, people), you can finally get away with carrying one.

Traveling Massage Pillow with Speakers

This multitasking neck pillow serves as both your iPod and your personal masseuse. You’ll find integrated speakers with a cord that plugs into your phone or MP3, a pocket to hold the music playing device, and a massage feature with not one, not two, but three different speeds. You’re basically at the spa.

Long Cat Neck Pillow

We all know that real men love cats, and what better way to flaunt your manhood than with a cat neck pillow? This meme-inspired pillow is made of soft, face-worthy fleece, and wraps far enough around your neck for sufficient slumber positions.

Aroma Snoozer

If you’ve ever had trouble falling asleep in the car or plane, why not try aromatherapy? In this pillow version of the practice, you add droplets of lavender oil into an atomiser, which then defuses it throughout the pillow. Since the ends sit closest to your nose, you’re guaranteed to sniff the calming scent as you doze off. Better yet, the pillow is inflatable and comes in a drawstring bag, which makes transport even easier. We smell a winner.

Skyrest Travel Pillow

At first glance, this pillow doesn’t seem like the most practical. Look again. It deflates into virtually nothing! Forget neck cramps and that awkward encounter with your neighbor, this pillow will keep you sleeping at a comfortable angle without ending up on someone else’s shoulder. It may look a little ridiculous, but hey, if SkyMall says it’s okay, so do we.

Ultimate Neck Pillow

With an optional chin strap, storage bag, luggage attachment and side pocket, this pillow has more features than a furnished bed. The pillow is made with special slip-resistant backing to keep your head in place, and moisture absorbing fabric for all of those times you fall asleep with your mouth open. And don’t be mislead by the size of this thing–it only weighs 11 ounces, so no need to worry about traveling lightly.

Remedy Memory Foam Amazing Pillow

While this pillow may not be the most masculine of travel accessories, it sure is comfortable. You can twist, turn, and fold the pillow any way you like. And with memory foam and tension-easing microbeads, you’re sure to find the perfect position. Better yet, the pillow comes as a set of two, so you’ll be able to share with someone who actually appreciates the baby pink color.

Ostrich Pillow

The Ostrich Pillow is said to “allow you to create a little private space within a public one, to relax and unwind,” and it clearly does that in the most ridiculous way possible. With a soothing interior and spots for your hands, you can take an instant power nap any time, anywhere.

Animal Character Travel Neck Pillow

Get in touch with your sensitive side as you flaunt one of these stuffed animal neck pillows. With options like a giraffe, lion, moose, and raccoon, you can buy them for your whole crew without fear of overlap. You have to admit, they’re pretty darn cute.

And When All Else Fails…

You can never go wrong with a good stuffed snake. They function just as well as most of these ridiculous neck pillows, plus you’re more than likely to have one laying in a box from your childhood. So get a little nostalgic while you sort through your parents’ basement. Or, just buy one online.

Pacsafe.com gives 5 simple ways to make your plane ride a little more comfortable.

Travelers aspire to be able to sleep anywhere, at any time, in any conditions. Yet, for many, sleeping on airplanes remains the most difficult environment to master: the screaming babies, the dry, sterile air, the flatulent seatmates, the cramped quarters, and the turbulence, always the turbulence. Whatever your nightmare scenario for sleeping is, an airplane’s got it. If you’ve been trying the same old sleeping positions, it’s time to branch out and get some z’s.

The Bernie
This is the most basic and most difficult position sot master. Leave the seat up, place your hands in your lap, turn your head slightly in the direction of whichever seatmate smells better, relax your jaw, leaving your mouth open, and close those eyes. You should appear comatose. The Bernie is best for extremely crowded situations.

The Origami
Hailing from the Far East, the Origami is only for the committed and the flexible. Fold the tray table down and lean onto it, using your folded arms to make a light-blocking support for your face. Add extra comfort by piling sweatshirts, jackets and pillows onto your tray table.

The Classic
Ideally, you could lay down on an airplane, but that luxury is only reserved for people so rich they pay people to sleep for them. For the Classic, recline your seat, place a pillow at the small of your back and extend your legs as far as possible under the seat in front of you. The goal here is to make your body as straight as possible.

The Window
While it’s obvious that the exit row is snoozing Shangri-La, the next best thing is the window seat. Unless you are traveling with a compliant friend, you have nothing to lean against. The window can be that compliant friend. No questions asked, just never-ending support. Lean the seat back, cram up whatever pillows, jackets, snack bags, and magazines you can get your hands on and shove them in between the window and the seat. Lean on and snooze away.

The Cocoon
Only yoga professionals need attempt the Cocoon, a pose so difficult few believe it’s possible. Bring your feet up set them flat on the seat (yes, the seat you are sitting on). Wrap your arms around your legs, rest your face on your knees and fall into a deep, deep slumber.
